Rifle Scopes Recs for a 1/1.5-4xscope

looking for recommendations on a variable zoom scope in the neighborhood of 1-4 power. using it to shoot out to about 300/400 yards on an AR-15. price range is 300-500 bucks. prefer some kind of BDC capable reticule, but im open to suggestion. give me some user reviews-

In that price range, I recommend going with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x. It isn't coming with a BDC reticle, but that's a simple matter of a drop chart taped to a butt stock.
