Been doing a test on the new 105 Berger Hybrids and my Sandstorm Suppressor.

Crappy iPhone pics but good enough. 3 shot 5.25" group at 1,086 yards with a suppressed 6XC and 105 Berger Hybrids. Not too bad for a high round count barrel and brass. This is the first rifle I built years ago, still hammering.

For starters

6XC info

Basically, the parent cartridge is/was a 22-250 that was necked up and blown out. Norma makes brass for it now and David Tubb sells the brass for $69 per 100. Good stuff too.

Read up on the XC, it's a great cartridge that’s inherently accurate with numerous bullets.

Mines a 1-8 twist Krieger finished at 25.5" and threaded 5/8x24

The redneck is why you build my guns William.....that and the way they shoot. Never discount the country boy and his rifle. William what's the difference between the VLD's and hybrids? I would assume easier tuning....do they fly as good as the 105 VLD ballistically?

Re: Red Necking It

I was shooting the 105 VLD's out of it at 3,050 with 38.2 grains of H4350 but decided to try the Hybrids. Standard Ogive with a longer boat tail section.

So far, for me, they've been slower but just as accurate. I'm going to try RL19 next to see if I can get them up to 3,000+ with accuracy. Right now, they're under .25 moa at 100 yards but slow.

Re: Red Necking It

I am running the VLD's slow by comparison...2800fps in my .243 They seem to carry velocity very well down range and don't hinder the slower more accurate load in that rifle at long distance. They were a bastard to dial in but once the sweet spot was found are hammers. I'll have to look closer at the hybrids when I ever work up a new load in something. The VLD's have served me well for years but can be frustrating getting there.
