I'm completely green in reloading and would like to learn the trade and in the near future be shooting my own rounds. I have all but decided to start with the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit and Redding Dies.

I'm torn between which set of dies to get. I'm looking into the Redding Type S Bushing Full Die 77478, Redding Type S Match Bushing Full Die Set 36478, and Redding Competition Seating Die 55478. I'd rather pay more now and not pay more later to upgrade if the die set is worth the extra money.

Could someone help point me in the right direction?
Any opinions of these would be appreciated.

Re: Redding 6.5 Grendel Dies

I tried the Redding Type S and then tried the Forster's. I prefer the Forsters. Given the two types of brass available; Hornady and Lapua, the neck tension provided by the Forsters is spot on. Price is much better as well compared to the Type S Reddings. The Reddings require bushings to adjust neck tension. For the Grendel round in a gas gun I cannot see a benefit as you have to run sufficient neck tension as to not cause further problems when the gun's action cycles and feeds the next round.

I found that the Forster micrometer type seating die produce less runout over the Redding as well.
