Looking at Redding die sets and there are all kinds. Match, S-Type match, hunter, etc. What is the difference between them all and does it really matter which set you buy?

Type s are bushings, under that you have full length and neck.
Master hunter is a regular nonbushing sizer and a competition seater.
Premium is a regular sizer with carbon expanderball and a regular seater that’s retrofitted with a micrometer top. It does not have the sliding sleeve of the competition seater.
Match are gonna be the competition seater and some combination of other stuff, lots of different things so you just need to look at what’s included with each.

The Master Hunter is a good way to go, in my opinion. It includes a full length sizing die and their competition seating die.

You can learn a lot by looking at Reddings website or by browsing through the online websites of places like Midway or Sincla

It definitely matters. What are you trying to accomplish? Bump shoulder, full size, just neck size, then what features which other guys already covered.

    Stuff to think about though:
Adjusting neck tension = bushing dies
Micrometer for fine tuning seating depth (makes it easier IMO).
    Gas gun full size die
Neck size works brass less(better brass life when not annealing). Some think neck sizing is the devil but many have success with it when it comes to accuracy. Usually bolt just closes hard.

I am parting with my type s dies. I have a lot of issues bumping the shoulder with them. They just don’t move it at all and my bolt is very hard to close. I’ve had great luck with whidden standard dies (non bushing) for my dasher and will be switching to them for my 6.5cm also. Check whidden out they are priced well too!

We have all the Redding type dies but gravitated back to std with floating carbide expander. All our brass is annealed.Cases size and seat like hot honey. Deer hate our reloads.Use a T7. Love that machine.Use a CM1500 and very expensive annealer via 18v Makita.LOL.
