Re: Redfield scope for hunting rifle
The new Redfields are very usable hunting scopes, a great value at current pricing. With Leupold's lifetime warranty, which is one of the best in the industry, they would be a good choice.
The scope has a solid feel, and glass is just average, but when I first looked through one I was surprised at how good it was for the money overall.
The Redfields are usable scopes and are definitely not junk...they are in a much higher category than most of the Chinese junk scopes in that price range that are not worth mounting on a rifle.
I thought the 2-7 was slightly clearer and brighter than the 3-9, but maybe other members can weigh in with their opinions as to that.
You might want better glass. The Bushnell 3-9 4200 or Zeiss 3-9, or the Leupold FX-3 fixed 6x, though more money, are excellent scopes with excellent glass...much better scopes overall, and a better value...still under $400.
Anyway, there is no need to make your selection blindly. You should go into a dealer and actually look through these scopes and draw your own conclusions to see if they will work for you or not.
