Hoping @MDT_Josh will weigh in on this as well as others who might have some experience with the matter.
I bought two metal MDT AICS-format .308 magazines (using with 6.5CM) during the black Friday sale. I used them in my first match of the season today and encountered a hard-feeding issue with the first three rounds of a full mag. Heretofore, I have only loaded five rounds or so for practice sessions.
I used wet-lap automotive sandpaper (1500 grit) to smooth the mag lips before I used them the first time, so it's nice and slick with just a few rounds loaded. But it's just too stiff to push off the first three rounds (reliability has been 100% regardless of # rounds loaded). It's also far more difficult to load the last four cartridges in these mags than in others I've used, especially the Tikka proprietary mags in my now-sold Tikka TAC A1.
QUESTION: Can I cut a loop off the magazine spring and make feeding (and loading) easier without affecting reliability?
(Edit... yeah, it's an easy experiment to perform, and my experience with MDT is I'd get a new spring easily enough if the experiment failed... but why not just ask first?)
