I have read a lot about the powders of choice for a 7mm 08 and the general consensus is that h 4350, varget, and r 17 are the preferred powders for the heavy bullets (162-168). being that r 15 has a burn rate almost identical to varget how would it do with the 7mm 08 and heavies? any experiences?

Sierra lists RL15 up to 175gr and Nosler up to 160gr. I'm getting ready to play with some loads using 160gr hpbt game kings and 168gr match kings and RL15.

If you want more speed try CFE, 2000MR or RE17. I worked up a load with RE17 under 154SSTs ending up with 46.5grs being the most accurate, velocity should be about 2750 according to Hornadys manual.

Over the years I have tried several different powders in my Model 7 7mm08. Staying with two bullets, 130 Speer BTSP and Nosler 140 BT, I finally landed on Vit 140. It gives me best results in my rifle for both accuracy and velocity. Varget RE15 and N140 are stacked with each other on the burn rate chart. My load for comps with the GAP barreled AI is 168 SMK with an undisclosed dose of H4350. This is where I think Varget/RE15 and N140 would not satisfy the need for speed.
