I generally load rifle using a single stage press. Most of my rifle is for precision loads (shoot a lot of PRS). W a single stage press I decap, tumble, FL size, tumble to remove lube, check case length, seat primer, drop powder & then seat bullet

300 BLK is not what I would consider a precision round. I want decent ammo but am not trying to get to 0.5 moa w/ it. What would be the sequence for loading in a progressive press?

I load mine on a Dillon 550, I tumble the brass, spray lube a batch and let them flash off, then run them through the press loading them all the way. After they have been loaded I wipe them down and give them a tumble in corn cob for about 15 mins to knock the last of the lube off. Yes running loaded ammo in the tumbler. As I am using CCI military primers I don't worry too much about them going off.

300blk can absolutely be a very precise round with a quality barrel and good loaded ammo..

I load all my 300blk on a 650..

H110 meters great from the dillon powder measure for supers and is stupid accurate out to 500M from my 10.5" Rainier Ultramatch SBR.

I do 300blk in a 2 toolhead setup like my other rifle calibers. I use a loading toolhead to size, trim and mandrel the brass and process a lot to fill bins.

I then load in a dedicated loading toolhead with a decapping die in 1 to confirm nothing in the flash hole like media.. then seat primer and drop powder, Forster Ultra Micrometer seating die

Here 7 five shot groups @ 100 with my 125 TMK load all loaded on my 650

1/2 minute is gonna be hard in 300 BO. You may shoot an occasional group that small, but realistically you'll probably hover in the 3/4-1 minute range. You will hear about guys shooting some fantastic groups in benchrest, but bear in mind these are benchrest guns, not an AR. Even a factory bolt gun will struggle with small groups.

  • I've found 3 bullets that shoot quite well. 125 SST, 125 SMK, and 125 Speer TNT. Ive tested a bunch of different powders, but W296/H110 have given the best results. All my brass is converted LC 5.56. I've never used anything but CCI 400s for primers. All 3 of these bullets have hovered right around 3/4 minute, some times better, sometimes worse. My gun has a 16" BHW barrel which has been a good shooter.

As far as set on my progressive? Obviously I'm feeding it sized, trimmed, decapped clean brass.
Station 1: Lyman Mdie (30 Carbine version)
    Station 2: powder
    Station 3: bullet feeder
Station 4: Hornady seater (sleeved seaters > all)
Station 5: Lee FCD (Just enough to remove flare from Mdie)

Thats from a 10" AR, bipod, rear bag and 5-25 Vortex @ 100yd...

Also, what "benchrest guys" are you talking about shooting 300blk?? Ive never seen or heard of any..

I never said it wasnt possible. The Ultramatch barrels are known good shooters, so you have an excellent shooting rifle. Im simply pointing out that people need to temper their expectations about what the average accuracy is. Keep doing whatever you are doing, because its clearly working. (y)

As far as BR style shooting with 300 BO? Its been done. They use them for point shooting competitions and they work quite well due to the bullets being .308 it has the possibility to score higher due the bullet being able to touch the line more easily than say a .243/6mm bullet. Keep in mind these guys are shooting in the 1s on a consistent basis. When the groups get that small, every little advantage needs to be used. Its the same thinking that is used with 30 BR (6 BR based) or 30 major (Grendel based) wildcats. Its just another way to game the competition.
