I'm not new to reloading; but this will be my first try with a long range semi-auto.
Would it be best to use the small base dies for this rifle? Do I need to go the extra mile and pick up a comp. bullet seat die also?
If I decide to try and take this out to 1000 yds. what bullet might work best in this set up 155 or the 175 ?
Buy the way this is an Armalite super SASS.
thanks

Re: Reloading for a AR-10

I use standard FL dies, never had any issues or needed a short base die for any of the AR10s I have loaded for, but that doesn't mean the possibility isn't there.

I don't know if you could get the kind of velocity out of that barrel/bullet combo to make the 155s perform better than the 175s at 1K, I'd stick with the 175s.

BTW, there is a Redding group buy going on right now

You don't NEED small base dies, but they add some reassurance for proper autoloader feeding and chambering.

Any good seating die will do. Competition seaters will be machined to tighter tolerances and some will have "Floating" or long-tapered bullet seating cups to provide a little less runout -- but again are not absolutely required.
