Hey guys I'm new to reloading but I have gotten pretty familiar with it even though there's alot to learn but I'm using Remington brass RL 10x 23.5 grains with 50gr hornady v max well on some when I seat the bullet it wrinkles the neck of the case but only on some like it's compressing the case to much any help would be. Great

Re: Reloading Problem

Check your seater die! It sounds like you have it screwed into your press to far.

What caliber is this? 223?

Caliper (measure) the ID's on your cases.

Are you chamfering the inside of the case mouths?

Re: Reloading Problem

Some of the brass cases are longer than others is my guess. Your seating die should be adjusted to allow this. (Although you'll probably get better accuracy if the cases are trimmed to the same length.) Take a sized case, insert it in the shell holder, unscrew your seating die about two turns and run the case into the press and die. With the ram up all the way, turn the seating die into the press until you feel the resistance of the case. Back off one turn and lock the die there. You'll have room for varying case lengths. Use the top seating screw to determine the OAL of the loaded round (i.e., the depth of the seated bullet). JMHO

Re: Reloading Problem

Too tight of a neck, or the neck is not 100% round when seating. The 50 grain V-max is a flat base bullet and could be catching on the edge of the case mouth when seating. Virgin brass needs the necks cleaned up and inside chamfered to make seating the bullet smooth.
If he's crushing the neck, then the seating die isn't screwed down too far. It would be crushing the shoulder instead.
