I just ordered all the stuff to start reloading for the 6.5 Grendel caliber (Forester Ultra Die Set, Lapua Brass, etc.)
2 questions:

1.) Do you <span style="text-decoration: underline">HAVE</span> to use small rifle <span style="text-decoration: underline">MAGNUM</span> primers always?
2.) Why do I always hear "load nothing but Vihti Vuori powder"
Now all loading charts I see they have Varget and H4895 loaded with all the 123 scenar bullets but always hear people say Varget and H4895 is no good for that round. Then why the hell would manufacturers have them listed then I said! Im not going to but a shitload of VV powder if I have Vargert and H4895 on my shelf.
If you only can use Magnum primers im screwed, Ill have to go on another ninja mission for primers again!

Re: Reloading questions for 6.5 Grendel

You do NOT have to use Magnum primers but they will have closer standard deviation in velocity, really important in long range (1k yds).AA recommends and I've been using H4895 for powder and mine loves it!

Re: Reloading questions for 6.5 Grendel

As noted, you do not have to use magnums, but the case does work better (group) with them. There are loads for 4895 and V, but with lighter bullets. The case capacity is a very limiting thing with the Grendel, and ball powders work better than stick due to this limitation.
