Generally speaking I agree that the 175 or 178 grain bullets are the best option to stretch the useful range of the .308Win with a typical length (22"-26") barrel past 800-900 yards.
That said every barrel is a little bit different and AMAX168s are working very well for me from a factory barreled 24" Remington 700. At 2,750FPS(chrono'd) the AMAX168s are shooting about 1(one) mil rad flatter than a 2,615FPS(chrono'd) SMK175 at 1,000 yards. I have not managed to get the AMAX178s to work as well as the AMAX168 or SMK175s probably the result of a long Remington throat that is getting very tired. I could never get SMK190s to work for me even when the barrel was new, maybe it was the factory 1:12 twist barrel? I have not had a chance to try a load using the new Hornady Match 178grain bullets but they look promising.
I can't say about Lapua 155 Scenars, Berger 155VLD or SMK155 Palma as I have not tried them and lack a .308Win with a barrel long enough but on paper at least they look pretty good for punching paper targets at long range.
HTH!
