I have a 541X that is not shooting as well as I had hoped.I Am thinking of adding a second action screw, but it appears the locking lugs are in the way for adding this screw. Has anyone here ever had any dealings with these rifles and if so , is there a way to add this second screw? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Rem. 541 X

Are you talking about the sporter? If so, I had one back in the 90's. I added a Canjar trigger and it shot well for what it was. I don't think they will ever be the equal of the highend rifles.

I never heard anything about adding an extra action screw, but I have never been much of a .22 shooter. Others here may be able to give you a better answer.
