Anyone else with the Rem 700 5R barrel haveing to deep of throat to reach lands for bullet seat?

I can get there, but it's pretty long. I seems to recall about 2.95 with a 175smk.

Can't speak on the 5R, but my 700 XCR (New last April) has way too deep a throat for my taste. Measured at around .360. I am now calling her Linda Lovelace.

Muleman you will get better accuracy if you will seat your rounds to the SAMMI specs.I have not yet seen or heard of a 5R not likeing the bullets seated to this spec.and thats with 168gn and 175gn smks.and yeah my 5R has the same deep chambering as all do.2.95 or so is the normal from what I can tell.

but if you are trying to shoot aa heavier bullet then you should all so be OK.

Every factory Rem has a throat like a giraffe. Most seem to shoot well with mag length OALs and some shoot VERY well. You are not alone! AG
