Is there a way to distinguish a Rem. 5R if say a seller is offering one without original box? I know the current 5R's Remington are selling have the 10th anniversary edition stamped on the barrel by the chambering stamp.

Do the previous models have 5R stamped on the barrel or something?

Reason I asking is because I found a used model for sale and the whole gun has been ceracoated and seller doesn't have original box.

Thanks

The gun has been ceracoated as mentioned above so I don't know if it was stainless or blued.

Re: Rem 5R question

A magnet will stick to it anyway magnets stick to any stainless under 316. I have a 5r in .223 the way to tell is it has 5 lands and they are rounded on the corners not crisp hence 5r check inside the reciever you should see the stainless finish in it still and make sure it in a varmint profile barrel. Their a nice rifle all mine needed was a recrown, a bolt true up, lighten the trigger and a bedding job (I changed the stock to a pst25 by Hs but the factory stock is still really nice) and it shoots .3s at 100 with a basic unmatched handload. I've got some Lapua brass I'm gonna do some serious load development with and see how it goes should go .2s minimum unless I fluked the handload.

+1
I have owned two 5R's and that is the easiest way to tell.

Re: Rem 5R question

Thanks for the info everyone. I compared the gun side by side with another 5R that had the matching serial original box with it and the guns are identical. Also yes it has 5 Lands.

Thanks again.
