I have an older heavy barreled 22-250 that I would like to convert to 243 (I think). I need some advice. Should I just sell my gun and buy a completed rifle or use my action and build? I want something more versital and using some of my 308 brass seems cool too.

Oh yeah, I amost forgot. If you would build from my action, who would you get to do it?

Really looking for sound advice!

Thanks for your help.

I did almost the exact same thing about a year and a half ago. But i went with a 6mm Super L/R instead of the straight 243. I used a Rem 700VS in 22-250, bought a blank barrel from Bartlein in Medium Palma and had the action trued by an excellent smith and had him spin up the barrel also. It turned out excellent and a joy to shoot.

Don't plan on using your .308 brass to neck down to .243 without quite a bit of work. If you like the .243, buy a barrel blank and have it built off of your action, but don't just decide what you want just because you have some brass laying around. Don't take this as anything bad about the .243 at all, it is a great cartridge.
