Hello,
I am having problems with a my new to me (used) rem 700 300wm. It will not extract a snap cap. I fired two shots at the range through it and neither would extract. I had to push out with a cleaning rod. Basically, the extractor would pull free and shave small amounts of brass (very small amounts) from the rim. It did not rip the rim, the cartridge is still reloadable. It took minimum amount of pressure to open bolt(same force as if chamber was empty) I soaked the bolt face in Butch's and scrubbed with a brush thinking it was dirty. This did not help. The angle of the extractor does seem "off" compared to my 700 .308. Has anyone ever come across this? I am too the point that I am going to take this to a smith, and plan on ordering my own parts prior. What all would you order to be replaced ( extractor, pins, springs). I know a lot of people do the sako mod to the bolts, but I do not want to go this route. I want stay more remington style instead of cutting the bolt. Thanks for any help.
