I recently ordered one of these from a local dealer. This was the first time that i had heard of this specific model. I was shopping around for an sps tactical or an aac-sd model.

If anyone has shot one of these, I would like a little feedback. I'm sure it will be a pretty good shooter.

Thanks.

Re: Rem 700 308 5r 20" threaded

Well this is my first post but since I recently acquired a 5R mil-spec 24", I'll give my opinion of it.

The reason I got it is because they have a reputation for being 1/2" moa out of the box. I can say that I have encountered the same results and I don't see why the 20" would be any differant. It shot just about everything I have fed it but the groups seem to be a tiny bit tighter with 175gr Federal GMM.

The stocks are decent but I still wouldn't mind upgrading it to something that fits me a touch better. The recoil pad is also very minimal and you get a bit more felt recoil but unless you’re planning on putting hundreds of rounds down range in an outing it's not bad.

They come with the self adjustable X-Mark trigger, which in my opinion is a very good trigger for out of the box but I personally prefer the old standard 700 trigger tuned down to about 2.5lbs. I don't care for the X-Mark due to its rounded profile and smooth body. It is also not a crisp brake but more of a brake like it's going over a hill.

The gun though is very accurate and if you have no intentions of wanting to do any customizing, then I'd say it's the best out of box gun I've ever owned, and I've had several.

Sorry I can't give a detailed opinion of the 20" but I really see no difference with the exception of the threaded barrel and loss of a few FPS.

Here's mine the first day I shot it. The groups behind it were from 200 and 300 yards, I know these are not the greatest but for the first day shooting it with a light wind, I was very please. I've had groups since that have been better.

Mine has a 20moa Badger base with ARC rings and a 6.5X20 Leupold Mk4 ERT.
