Rem 700 .308 AAC-SD 20" continual FTF

Question: My new Rem 700 .308 AAC-SD 20" continually fails to feed. After firing,the spent round ejects but usually the bolt sweeps over the top of the next round and does not chamber. Magazine is stock with drop down floor plate. Have fired Remington, Lapua and Winchester ammo, 100 rounds so far. My email is [email protected] any suggestions are appreciated.

I would call remington and make a warranty claim.

My friends 5R had the same problem. Instead of trying to fix it, he just got an AX AICS.

Thanks all! Anybody familiar with the Wyatt's Detachable Magazine Assembly - Remington 700? Think I may install with Bell & Carlson Medalist 5 stock. Love the 700 just run out of patience with FTF.

+1 on AzNoob. My Rem 700 AAC-SD was doing the exact same thing and then I got an AICS chassis and now I have no problems.

Just replaced mine with a Mcrees!

Mcrees set up may be the right stuff. Stocky's is usually out of the stock & Wyatt's I want, thanks for the lead my friend.

This is a common problem (so I've read). You need to bend the magazine spring to push the back of the follower up. This will allow the back of the rounds to sit higher and be caught by the bolt. I had this problem on my AAC SD as well.

That makes sense, I've owned many rifles and handguns, in every other way I love the Rem 700, seems like a simple issue like this would not exist on a 1 month old gun. Thats life. I'll give it a try.

I did call & email Rem and they referred me to a local (50 miles away) gun shop however they want to keep it 3 weeks. Thanks for the tip drb5r.

I was having the same problem with my 700 SPS Tactical and found that two things help.

- Make sure that spring hasn't slipped out of the little slot that holds the end of the spring. Try a little two part epoxy to keep it in place.

- And, as previously mentioned, pull on the back side of the spring to lengthen it and it will push up on the back of the case.

That spring is loose, I assume it should be seated all the way to the rear of the gun(?)

I have a local shop that has all the mcrees in stock. If you bought one I would be more then happy to ship it you.

Also I had the same exact problem you are having with my AAC-SD. I had to reach in the action quite a few times and slide the rounds forward a little bit for the bolt to grab them. Let me tell you..... really fun on the fifth timed round of a competition.... Never again.

I've got an HS stock and atlasworxs dbm on mine, it feeds fine on the bench so far. I just finished it so no range time yet. The AAC is a nice little rifle but the stock and such could use an upgrade anyway from the factory. A chassis would be a good choice as well.

I agree that it shouldn't be a problem in a new gun. What do you mean the spring is loose? In the bottom of the hinged floor plate? I actually sold my stock, so I don't have one in front of me, but I was able to fix the problem by putting a bend in the middle of one of the straight runs. Don't bend the spring where it is already bent.

Thank you deadnbrkn84, exactly what I am doing with mine. I'll check out Mcree's in depth. If I didn't really enjoy this gun so much I would part with it, however I am determined to get it feeding properly.

What stock did you replace it with? I am looking at B&C Medalist 5 and deadnbrkn84 suggested Mcrees. I defintely going with a detachable mag system.

I sent Mcrees and email inquiry yesterday, does the chassis setup include the dbm setup? Looks like $745 shipped with 1 mag is a great deal.

I have a B&C Medalist 5 on a sps varmint. It is big and heavy.

If your just going to shoot at the range. It is a great stock. But if you plan on carrying it around I would suggest the Bell and Carlson Medalist M40 Varmint/Tactical Rifle Stock.

It's not just heavy, it's BIG.
