So I just ordered a new Remington 700 aac-sd and from what I can tell it comes with some kind of hexagonal thread protector on it, which I'm not crazy about. I'm looking for a muzzle break that is exactly the same outside diameter as the stock barrel, something like this guy has. Does anyone know if the badger thruster or any other muzzle break is by default the same diameter? Or would I have to turn it down? And how difficult is it to turn it down to the proper diameter? I'm guessing it would have to be on the barrel to do so...otherwise there would be no way to get it into the chuck?

Any thoughts much appreciated!

There are several different thread protectors you can buy at midwayusa.com, as for muzzle brakes it seems like you want a radial muzzle brake. I had my smith make me one so it's flush.

I went with the RAD Rapid brake from Randy (HateCA) on my AAC-SD. IIRC it is the .860" it's the smallest he offers. It is really really close to the same diameter as the muzzle.
