Rem 700 action ????'s

Can I rechamber a rem 700 in .308 to a 300wsm or are there to many differences? I guess what I am asking is can I rebarrel a .308 to 300wsm or is there a difference between that and a magnum action.

the lentgh is the same, you'll need to have the bolt face opened for the larger diameter of the WSM

Action is the same but bolt face is different. Best option sell your .308 bolt and buy a new short action magnum bolt.

Get a PTG one piece bolt with a Sako extractor while you're at it.

Google Pacific Tool and Gauge. It's one piece instead of three pieces sweated together and has an extractor that is less likely to fail and has a better grip.

if you plan on shooting large long berger bullets in a 300wsm i would tell you to sell 308 and buy a long action to do your build on.
