What is the difference between a rem 700 action built in the 60's and one built today? I'm not sure but would assume today's are better because technologies have changed but that's why I'm asking. I found a good deal on a older 700 but wanted to ask the hiders first. Thanks guys.

The QC of the older actions is generally held in much higher regard.

I have a 1969-71 action and a 2007 action. The feel of the older action is nicer to me, however it has probably 50x's the round count.

Since I am a 1960 model, I tend to gravitate towards models of the same era. Main attractions are the simpler trigger and no J-lock. Since I have no knowledge of metallurgy, I do not know this to be true, but the older ones "seem" to "slicken-up" with use moreso than newer ones.

Probably just me being an old fart though.

Today's technology is about money... produce more actions and make more money. Less margin, higher volume. That seems to be the story with the 700. They both are supposed to be identical, but I personally would go with the older model all else being the same
