I pretty sure on a regular R700LA material needs to be removed but Im unsure if the newer R700 338LMs need it or not but I want to say I heard there was changes made to handle the 338LM particularly as far as strength goes. CIP length or just a longer box maybe one of those differences also...Sorry I wasnt more help

Kyle the owner of XLR Industries is a member on here. Look through the huge thread on here about the XLR Chassis and you'll be able to send him a pm. I believe it's XLRIndustries. He's always been great to work with and answered all the questions I had before I bought mine. I just hope that when I'm ready for another one they are still a great price.

Yes, you can use the CIP length magazines on a standard Remington 700 LA.
