Rem 700 Barrel Twist

I have a Remington 700 BDL Varmint, .223, bought in the early 1980's. Its the old style with beautiful wood & gloss finish. Can someone tell me the barrel twist on this?

Pretty sure all 223 varmint barrels were/are 12 twist.

Check it with a tight fitting patch, a ruler, and a piece of masking tape.

Take a black magic marker and make a line the length of your one piece cleaning rod as straight as possible then put a bore brush on it and stick it in the bore and measure how far you have to push the rod to make one revolution.
