rem 700 bolt swap question

If I have 2 .308 bolts can I swap them between rifles?

I'm no gunsmith, but sure seems like you'd have head space issues with the bolt that didn't come with rifle

Probably not but you can check headspace with each to be sure. You may get lucky.

Like Nate O. I'm not a gunsmith but you cannot swap bolts in a Rem 700 without checking the headspace first or having it set by a gunsmith.

While a cartridge may chamber and fire I could lead to a very unsafe situation.

Get yourself some go and no-go gauges and find out.

If you buy yourself a set of gauges also get a field gauge, its longer than a no go... the reason is, Remingtons will close on a no go... I have a set and yes all my bolts interchange.
