I have a rem 700 la magnum bolt face in a mcree folding chassis. My thoughts are to buy a 20in 300wsm barrel for a lightweight short barreled hunting rig that doesn't lose a ton of velocity. Shooting 160 to 215 grain bullets. I dont want to run a win mag due to the mag length restrictions and I dont believe it would achieve complete burn out of a 20in barrel. What caliber would you go with and why. Am I on the right track. Also this will be ran surpessed. Another reason I dont want a long barrel.
