Sorry if this is a stupid question....

I have a REM 700 SA which is drilled and tapped for a USO MST100 repro mount.

I know that the other REM 700 SA base USO produce (rail version) has the same dimensions, threads (6-48) and screw hole posirions as the repro.

Are the positions of these holes standard on the REM 700 SA receiver? Or is the receiver drilled/tapped according to the base to be used

So, for example, could a Badger Ordnance or Seekins be straight swapped for the USO repro?

Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is a really stupid question

Re: REM 700 SA scope base question

The location of the screw holes will be identical between actions of the same size and type. Well, within manufacturer's specs, anyway. The only rifles you would ever have to worry about hole placement is either sporterized military rifles, or factory sporters made before WWII, when scopes were not all that commonly used.

So yes, you could swap any mount for a Remington short action without concern.
