Just sold my .338 lapua due to ammo costs and noticed a 5r SS .300 in the shop. It's brand new and I have heard great things but with all guns some not so good things. I already have a 700 p win mag that will shoot out to 1200 yards with the best of them. I don't like the trigger but everything else looks superb. Ordered a Night Force NXS 5.5x22x56 from midway with base & rings also. How do they shoot compared to the police?? Is the 5r rifling really that much better. My police is a 1/2 moa rifle all day everyday. Some may be wondering why did he get another rifle same cal. Answer: 15# of r22, lots of Berger 210 vlds and lots of 208 amaxs. Barrel will be gone in about another 1 k down the tube. Just planning ahead. But if anybody had good or bad opinions I would love to hear them before I shoot it and risk losing my ass in $$

I have a Rem 700 5r .300 win mag and it's a nice rifle. I posted some information about my rifle on this link: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...704#Post3340704

In the situation that you are in with your barrel about to be shot out I think I would just have that 700p rebarreled with whatever aftermarket barrel that you prefer. While you had the rifle in the shop you could go ahead and get it bedded if it's not already done.
