Gunsmithing Rem 700 trigger installation video

Re: Rem 700 trigger installation video

Not exactly the answer your after, but try Youtube. The instructions will be or at least should be with the Jewell. Its a bit challenging at first but it comes to you with a bit of tricking with it.

Re: Rem 700 trigger installation video

I'm not sure you would even need a video. It's not that difficult. Just look at the position of bolt stop spring so you know how it goes back in and that's about it, the rest is pretty straight forward.

Also be sure the trigger safety is in the safe position before you drive out the rear pin.

Re: Rem 700 trigger installation video

It's really pretty straight forward as HateCA said. All I might add is make sure when driving the pins back in to put the tapered side in first. The nice thing about the way the Jewell's are made is you dont need to use short slave pins (~.125" diameter x .3") to hold it together while its out of the action unlike a factory Remy and many aftermarket 700 triggers.

Here's the manual specific to the Jewell triggers detailing adjustment:

Great link Swan, stepped away for a few minutes before submitting.

This is what you want:

I did a Jewell trigger on one of my 700's with this info. Makes it easy.

Re: Rem 700 trigger installation video

First of all congrats on chosing one of the best after market triggers out there. It is super easy to install. The factory trigger is a little different in that it is not self contained like the Jewell. Take the unloaded barreled action out of the stock and set on a work bench. Make sure your safety is in the safe position so when you drive the rearward pin out with a 1/8" punch you won't bend it. After driving out the rear pin carefully hold the trigger in place while removing the punch. The trigger will now swing down and pivot on the front pin when you carefully lower it so you don't loose the small captured spring. Remove the front pin in the same direction as the rear, from left to right. Save the factory trigger as someone may want it in the future for a few bucks. Now as you can see, the jewell looks similar but less complicated. Install it in reverse order, front pin first rear second. The bolt release lever will need minor bending most of the time to work properly which can be done with a pair of good needle nose pliars and a steady hand. These come adjusted from the factory at about 3 lbs. to be very safe. You can adjust the sear engagement, over travel, and pull weght. But if you do not fully under stand the workings of the trigger, I highly suggest you let a very good gun smith do this part. It is to easy to improperly adjust the sear engagment and end up with a very unsafe rifle. Please be care full with this part, and good luck.
