I have an opportunity to get a Remington 700 VSSF in .308. The rifle is probably 10-15 years old, but well cared for. Where does this model generally fall in the accuracy/quality spectrum? I see other 700 models mentioned frequently, but not this one.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Rem 700 VSSF

I have 1 VSSF and 2 VSF. VSSF in 22-250 and the 2 VSF in 308. Also their big brother the 7 U. Mag. While the 7 is unfired, the others have all shot well. If the price was right I would buy more. YMMV

Re: Rem 700 VSSF

I suspect the reason the VSSF is not mentioned as frequently is most likely because they cost more than alot of the other models.
There are less of them circulating amongst shooters here as compared to lesser priced models, hence you see less of them for sale, and less talk about guys shooting them.

I have several VSSF's, I have been happy with how they performed, so I hang on to them.

Like the other's mentioned above, if you can buy it for a good price, then pick it up.
