Gunsmithing Rem 760 300 Savage- reamed to .308?

How hard would it be to ream a 300 savage chamber to .308?

Rem 760 barrels are scarce, and they don't have much extra meat on them to work with

IMHO you would do better to sell it to a collector and buy a .308.

Not much collector interest in basic old Rem 760 .300 Savage


WHile any 760 or 7600 chambered in .308 goes for twice as much or more.

If no collectors value - ream away. It should be a fairly simple job.

What's wrong with the 300Savage. It will do nearly everything the 308Win will do at hunting distances.

My advice get a set of 300Savage reloading dies and brass.

I know- sell it to me cheap! I'll take it. .300 Sav is a cool old cartrdige. I hunt with it.

Can i do it with a hand-reamer? Does not seem like there is very much metal to remove?
