So I get asked a ?

Would a Rem 5r barreled action fit into my Mcmillan A5 that is cut for a Hart Heavy BC? Or would the barrel channel gap be too big between the stock and barrel?

Help, I dont have the barreled action to try to fit it, I only have the spare stock.

Re: Rem Milspec 5r and Mcmillan-----HELP!

I did the same thing, my 5R is in a McMillan with a Douglas #7 channel. It looks fine, is definitely free floated, and when I re-barrel, I already should have the room. The fit was not a drop in though. The shoulder of the Rem 5R barrel had a larger dia than the larger Douglas barrel. I was either going to have to remove a little compound to make it fit, or just have my smith re-bed the whole thing, which is what I did. I hope these pics help.

Gregch44,

Great looking rifle. The float looks just fine. How do you like the McMillan A-5? Molded in color or painted? Considering one for my next build. Thanks, Paul.

I have my 700 hunting contour barrel in a McMillan htg with channel cut for the varmint contour and its no big deal.

It is the moulded in. Great stock, I bought it used off a board member here. Can't go wrong with a Manner's or McMillan. I'm running 1 of each right now.
