Hello ladies and gentlemen. I am continually impressed with your knowledge so I thought I'd bring this dilemma to you. Sorry if its been asked before.

I have a Remington 700 and will soon be getting a Armalite Super SASS. Currently I'm running a Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21 G2 on the Remington. This sits in fixed rings (not QD). Since I will be adding a SASS, I need to think optics for this as well. I currently have an unused Bushnell 10x sitting in the safe. I have two options, which would you suggest and why?

1.Get rings and mount my Bushnell 10x to the SASS and call it a day

2. Get a QD mount to share the HDMR G2 between the Rem and SASS. If this is your choice, which is the best QD mount to share between these two? Will I run into issues with the optic sitting too high on the Remington? How much of a PITA is it to rezero EVERY TIME you switch guns?

Thanks in advance for the help! And thanks collectively for being such a great resource for us new long range suitors.

EDIT: What about selling the 10x and buying a Bushnell Elite 6500 6-24x (Mil Dot or FFP G2) or Elite 2.5-16x Mil Dot. If one of these is a preferred option, which would you mount on which gun? If I did the 2.5-16, it would go on the SASS, but with the 6-24x would you run that on the Rem? Any better options for the SASS in the sub-1000 range?

I would switch optics, personally.

I'm of the opinion that if I had to use a fixed mag optic, it'd go on the bolt gun. The variable is better suited on the gas gun.

Then I'd save for another DMR :)

I'd actually thought about switching them and running the 10x on the Remington, but at that rate, its 2 sets of rings and/or mounts since one is 34mm and one is 1 inch.

I'd love to be able to swing another HDMR, but thats just not practical for the amount of shooting I'll be able to realistically do with these two guns. My wife would divorce me if she knew what one scope costs let alone two :) (just kidding...sort of)

Well, I just decided to bite the bullet and order another HDMR...Buy Once Cry Once, right?!?! LOL.

Im putting this in a ADM AD-Recon QD mount so I can share amongst my ARs...I figure re-zeroing across ARs should be fairly pain-free.

Note to self: I need to find cheaper hobbies :)
