Sorry if this is a easy question for you all but its escaped me for some time now. I have a long action 700 in .300wm with a shilen #8contour barrel just to add the specifics. This rifle was brand new in the fall. I have fired sub .5moa groups with it and im very happy however after my shot breaks i have to pound the bolt knob to get the bolt to leave battery. This was an issue for the first 50 rounds. Then i made sure the chamber was clean and everything else. After that it slowly became better and smoother, until it wasnt a issue. After it smoothed out i shot another 60 rounds and the rifle sat in my safe until this weekend. To my surprise the tightness was back, just shooting regular federal 180gr soft points. i shot 40 rounds like this, each time sitting up and forcing the bolt back with all my strength. 30 rounds into the 40 i cleaned the chamber no difference. It was 90 degrees out be neither the rifle or ammo was in the sun if that made a difference? i can lift the bolt knob up but it wont go wiggle a bit. I hoping this a small detail im over looking. i can provide any other specifics i paid attention close to what was happening. Thank you!

Re: Rem700 bolt stick

Yeah i need to bring more variety of ammo next time and compare. After i posted the thread i recalled the days it shot well i was using some federal cheap stuff 150s. What difference would that cause? I bought the build new from a gunsmith. thanks
