How tough is it to remove and reinstall the ejector spring in the Rem700 bolts if you don't have one of the proper tools for the job? My .223AI is beating the piss out of my cases during ejection and I'd like to cut a coil or two off of it. Don't want to attempt it if I can't get it put back in though.

TIA

Re: Rem700 ejector spring removal

Easy. Have the tool and never use it. Drive out the roll pin with a roll pin punch and take it out. Don't loose the roll pin.

To put it back in start the roll pin into the hole. Then install the ejector and be sure the notch in the ejector is next to the roll pin so the roll pin can drive through. Next take a .223 case (or whatever case will work for that bolt face) and hook it under the extractor and allow the case to push down the ejector. Hold the case and bolt in one hand and give the roll pin a whack to drive it a little deeper. Release the case and use a roll pin punch to seat the roll pin where it should be.

Took me longer to type that then to do it.

One other thing only cut 1/4 to 1/2 a coil at a time and re-check. More then 1 1/2 coils you could be in trouble.
