Rem700 SPS Tactical stock issues

Before anyone says "Here we go again", this isnt just a complaint about the stock I am looking to improve it. Right now, I dont have the funds for a new one, but I know in the future possible an AICS 1.5 or other will be on my shopping list. For now, I want to improve what I have. I dont believe you cant shine a turd, but I know it will still stink.

I am running Leupold PRW rings and 2 peice Leupold mount, rings are med. height. It takes me several adjustments until I am up on the scopes level and somewhat comfortable to shoot.

Has anyone drilled through their rubberized stock and put on an adjustable cheek riser/pad, etc.? I searched what I could but maybe i wasnt being detailed enough. Thanks for any input.

I have heard of people taping towels or high density foam. You could get a Karsten for pretty cheap, I use a stock pack, and if I need a little extra height it isn't too hard to tape something under the stock pack.

Ive got teh SPS Varmint, and stock definitely leaves something to be desired.
I too, thought of adding a cheek comb, and looked into it (will have to check my favorites, as I think I still have it listed) and came across a nice setup that I ALMOST bought. but, decided to put some more $$$ in the cookie jar, and get a stock instead.


I have a set of lows on it, and I find myself STILL up off the rifle...it prety much sucks...cant wait to do the swap..
