ok so my first post i inquired about the 700 target tactical.. thankfully you guys all informed me it was bogus...now round two..since im kinda partial to the bell and carlson stock, ive now considered just buying one and dropping in a blued fluted 26 inch 700 barrel and action in 7mm..so id like to know..will it really just "drop in"?? im no professional here..just love goin to the range and shootin

Re: remi 700 7mm

Bedding even the AL block chassis stocks will help them. If you want to just drop this action in it you'll have something better than the factory stock but it can be skimmed.

Where are you located, someone near you might have one for you to try out and handle before you buy it.

Re: remi 700 7mm

From my experience, "drop in" means the action will fit in the stock without having to inlet. It will be functional but not optimal. While the thought of bedding or even skim coating may initially seem intimidating I believe you could do your homework and possibly with the help of a knowledgeable friend, do it yourself. Good luck with your build. I'm partial to 7mm for hunting myself.

Stagehead,

Since it is apparent that you want to be spoon feed here goes.

B&C make a lot of different configurations of stocks. Remington makes a lot of different 7mm actions/barrel diameters.

Since you won't and can't say which B&C stock, and which 26" barreled Rem 700 action., the correct answer to your question is: Yes, No, and Maybe.

So Yes, it will drop in, if the B&C stock has a aluminum bedding block, and your barrel taper is compatible with that stock, and your action length (long or short) is comparable with that stock, and your bottom metal (ADL, BDL, DBM) is compatible with that style of stock.

So No, it will not just drop in if the B&C stock w/aluminum bedding block is not fully compatible as noted above.

Maybe, means it might or might not require some fitting.

So in summary if it fits, and you order the correct stock, then yes, it's drop-in and go shoot. And if it drops-right-in will it shoot well, without bedding of any kind.

Maybe........The only way to tell is to try it. You can also call B&C with your questions, or call Stocky's Stocks that sells many B&C stocks, among others, and they will walk you through the process.

So apparently you didn't look at the thread that's linked in the post either did you... you know, that thread which shows and explains how to bed a stock start to finish...
