Gunsmithing Remington 1100 LW Issue

Fixing a Remington 1100LW 20 ga. for a friend. There are many issues with this gun that I am assessing one by one but the main one I can't seem to figure out is when the gun is assembled and locking block seems to hit the top of the action which in turn won't let the bolt travel back. It locks the action and wont budge. I have taken all of it apart several times cleaning all the parts, but just can't seem to figure out the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been away from the gunplumbing buis. long enough to thankfully say that I can't remember the names of the parts but it looks like your problem is the plunger in the back of the block on the action bar. It appears the nylon(if that's what it is) bushing is coming out of the back of the block. It should be flush. Can't see the pic well enough to be sure but I've seen this problem a bunch of times. Hope this helps. ;-)

That barrel doesn't look like any 1100 barrel I ever saw. The tang should be about 3" long. Does it fit tight on the end to the recess in the action?

Yep, everything fits tight.

Did you check the condition of the slide block buffer and bolt return plunger that I mentioned?

Not yet, I got off late last night. Just got married Saturday and moved into new house at same time almost. So I have been pretty busy after work. If I remember correct the plunger looked to be in good shape and worked correctly last time I took it apart.

It has been a very long time since I had trouble with my 1100 and I'm no 'smith so take this for what it's worth...

Have a look at the "interceptor latch" at the lower left front of the receiver. The only time I've had trouble with mine jamming, the stud the interceptor latch mounted on had worn enough to allow the IL to wiggle around and jam the action.

Typically that only causes a dead trigger or failure to feed from the mag. SS, the short tang is the early model. Same configuration as the 870.

The only other thing I can think of is a few I've seen the locking block creates a divot in the front flat of it's slot in the breech block but it's very rare.

Thanks RJB, I have 2 LT-20's from about 1976 or 1977 when they came out. About $325 retail from Bi Mart. It is the long tang. The stories we can tell. It still works like the day it was new. The second firearm I ever bought with my own money. I guess I just had never seen the LW version.
