Hey Gents, I just finished up a Bolt knob conversion on a Remington 541T .22 lr for a hide member. It took a little bit to make up a fixture to do it on the lathe, but I'm pretty happy with the end result.

I had intentions on just turning down the old handle into a 10/32 shaft, then making an extension with 5/16 x 24 threads on the end for whatever bolt knob I wanted to use, but the metal in the bolt is too soft. I had to cut the threaded shaft off, face the old handle then drill and tap and insert a hardened steel 10/32 screw to work off of. The benefit about putting it in the fixture on a lathe is that I can indicate off of the old handle to within .0005", so when I drill and tap, the hole is perfectly centered in the handle.

Anyway, here are some pictures. I'm working on CZ 452 and Ruger Mk 77/22 fixture next. I might just redesign the CZ handle assembly and make my own with a threaded handle so you can put whatever you want on it.

BTW, the customer is going to do the finishing, so this is why its still in the white.

Enjoy

Hmmm, me <span style="font-style: italic">like</span>! If I ever get around to <span style="font-style: italic">shooting</span> my Rem 541, I may just have to do that!

I suffer from too many projects and not enough time...
