Hello,

I'm relatively new to this site, and fairly new to medium/long range shooting. I have a Remington 700 SPS Tactical 308 with a 20" heavy barrel. I'm thinking about having the barrel shortened to 18.5" and have having it threaded, could anyone tell me how much if at all, this would effect the accurancy, range and muzzle velocity of the rifle. Thanks in advance.

Re: Remington 700 308 Barrel question

It will still shoot just fine. You will lose a little velocity, but nothing to lose sleep over. If you have a pet load worked out it may need to be tweaked a little to get it back to the same spot.

Make sure you have a good smith do it and it may shoot even better with a recrown.
