Little here and a little there
What MV are you 5R owners getting out of your barrels? I don't have a chronograph, but my 5R isn't jiving with some ballistics programs @ 2650...thing is shooting laser beam fast!

What are you getting so I can get a better understanding of what's going on with my shit.

FGMM 168

Re: Remington 700 5R

My 5r was seeing 2725ish with 155 scenars at 43.8 grains of varget and 210 primers. This seems a bit fast for such a low charge, but I verified that it was correct.

I cannot speak to factory loads, however.

Re: Remington 700 5R

I loaded up some Berger 175vld's and figured I'd start out way to hot and back it down till it got accurate. Well, I started at 46 grns of varget and it showed no sighns of pressure or stress but it wasn't very accurate, then I backed it down to 45.5 and wammo started shooting a .500 group @ 100! But the unreal thing is it's doing it @ 2680!!! Correct me if I'm wrong but damn that's fast!

Re: Remington 700 5R

FGMM cases, 175 SMK ,44.3 varget have been running 2700 fps @ 35-45 deg. 6000 ft. ALT

Lapua cases, 175 SMK ,44 varget, 2655 fps 67-70 deg.,6000 ft.

LC cases, 175 SMK ,43.7 varget, 2650 fps 35-45 deg. 6000 ft.

All loads @std. OAL

This is all with 20 in. barrel and 762SD suppresor.

Re: Remington 700 5R

I'm running 2580fps with 41.5 gr of IMR 4064 pushing a 168 Amax. Also running about 2480fps with 41.9 of Varget pushing a 168 Amax.
All data gathered @ 5450ft. elevation, approx 42-45 degrees F, and approx 3% humidity. Hope this helps.

Re: Remington 700 5R

I checked 3 factory loads this past weekend. FGMM 175 average was 2575 the FGMM 168 average was 2660 and BH 175 was dead on 2600. Mine seems to be very close to listed speeds. This was @ 900 feet and 65 degrees.

Re: Remington 700 5R

I chrono'd my new plain-jane Remington 5R last weekend. Using 44.2 gr of Varget, virgin Lapua brass, 175 SMK's, and CCI BR2's gave me and average of 2,651 FPS, ES was approx 31, SD was 11 (900' ASL). Accuracy was outstanding, I fired four 5 shot groups and averaged .695" at 100 yards for all rounds fired.
