I want to start off by saying I have ZERO experience shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor. I have such confidence in my .308 set ups that there is no reason to explore other options.

That said, I daughter really enjoys shooting so I am looking for a rifle that she can use at anytime, anywhere.

This brings me to the 6.5. I had her shooting my 6.8 AR’s however she is a left handed shooter and shooting suppressed isn’t exactly fun for her so we are going to a bolt gun.

This brings me to my question- is this the right gun for a kid that she can use now and enjoy?

TIA

You didn't say what all your daughter would be using it for but the 6.5CM is very popular, there is good factory ammo available for it, lots of load data with a wide selection of bullets and powders if you reload, and it's relatively mildly recoiling. I think it's as good as any, better than most, and your daughter will likely really enjoy shooting one.

Forgot to mention that. She’s 10 and will be mainly used for hunting but will also be used for punching steel plates during the summer.

I found a Remington 700 at a local gunshop with a 20” barrel. Threaded barrel which is important so I can throw a can on it.

Should make for a pretty sweet little setup for her, especially shooting it suppressed.

Biggest problem you're going to run into, if you aren't a reloader, is having something to shoot because there is just no 6.5CM on the shelves anywhere you look and even all the places online are out of stock. The ammo situation is crazy right now.

I was thinking it should be a good set up she could run forever.

The ammo situation sucks. I planned ahead and have the ammo I need for the rifles I run.

I was not expecting her to have blow back issues with a piston 6.8 AR.

My 11 year old nephew liked shooting mine prone, heavy barrel with a brake and he watched steel rams at 550 yards fall in the scope the first time he shot it. He'd shot 22's twice before that day.
