I purchased one of the Dick's special Remington 700 ADL rifles in .308 about six months ago, and am finally getting around to posting pictures. I was happy about the accuracy of the rifle out of the box, however hated the cheapo scope and the plastic stock.

This rifle is used purely at a range so I decided to by a Super Sniper 16X. I was also able to buy a Remington 700 5R takeoff stock and bottom metal from a guy I met at the range. He also hooked me up with ammo too, $450 for a case of 500 168 gr Gold medal match.

I am very new to precision shooting and have a low budget, but am satisfied with the results for the relatively low cost:

Remington 700 ADL Varmint: $460
5R takeoff stock and bottom [plastic]: $220
SS 16X from sample list: $250
TPS steel 20MOA base and rings: $150
Total: $1080

I'm quite satisfied with the groups for barely over a grand including optics although I'm welcome to any suggestions on improvements.

I messed with the dials between groups on the last picture.

This is my first time posting pictures, so my apologies if I screwed it up.

Good point, I forgot to mention I had adjusted the trigger down to about 3-3.5 pounds when I switched out the stocks. I'm thinking of getting a Timney trigger, although I would love to get my hands on a 40-X trigger.

I am also considering getting a new variable scope like a Sightron SIII or Conquest to give the rifle a little more flexibility.

I posted the groups because while the rifle (and shooter) are CAPABLE of .25-.50 MOA, it doesn't do so consistently. I would love to be able to get my bigger groups down to about what my smaller ones are doing.

Looks like you got a pretty good gun for that price. I have the same gun in 223 with a HS stock and it shoots okay, but not as good as the groups it looks like your getting out of yours.
