after a lot of thought and research id like to get some feedback on this.... Im about to redo my 700 in 308.. the only thing i cant decide on is my stock...

barrel- im leaning to bartlein m24 contour 1:11.25 twist 26 inch
blueprint the action, threaded for a brake....
trigger- timney set to about 2 lbs

heres my problem.. do i go Bell and Carlson A5 or McMillan A5...or do I go balls to the wall and XLR evolution????

I would vote for the McMillan stock. I started out with the B&C A5 and didn't like it. The stock was really heavy and the cheek riser would off set when raised up. I sold it and got a McMillan A4 and I was glad I made the switch. The McM A5 should serve you well.

Best bet is to try and get hands on with the stocks your thinking about. That's what sold me on the A3

Get whatever you want, just as long you will be satisfied with it. With that said, I like my Manners T5 and AICS. I currently have a T5 on my 700. The AICS is nice too, just heavy imo.

Price wise the XLR is the cheapest at $750 because it is adjustable, uses AI mags, and does not needed to be bedded. The KRG would come in second at $919 for the fixed stock with similar features as the XLR. A manners mini chassis would come in next at $972. The mcmillan route would be the most expensive with the stock being ~$800, bottom metal being ~$300, and bedding by a decent smith being ~$150+.

My vote would be the KRG because it looks sweet and just bolts right on.

Not trying to hijack but maybe the OP would be interesed. Do those chassis's hold zero like they should. I've wanted to look into them but I am scared to go away from a well bedded stock. My manners and mcmillians with good bedding are perfect in holding zero. I can take out of stock put back in and NOTHING has changed. Weather, temp, being bumped around- and my turrets havent been touched in 3 years on 2 rifles. I have 2 h/s stocks and a choate with the v-block and both are very accurate but over time and travel they all move.I know its not the same but I wonder. Monday I should be bolting a REM M700 in a manners TF1 with the mini chassis and maybe I will know more. Good luck OP

The chassis do hold zero pretty well. Although, some of the smiths on here do skim bed the chassis because the action could be out of round.
