I have a 1980 short action and it has the riveted extractor. I need to take this out in order to square my bolt face.

Can the extractor be reused? Can the rivet be reused? Can I just install the new rivetless extractor in its place.

Thanks in adavance

Buy a new replacement from brownells with rivet. You'll also need the tool that holds the rivet in place while you flaten the rivet in place.

No need to remove the old one if it works properly. All you need to do is a little grinding. An internal grooving boring bar insert can be easily hand ground to clear the extractor.
