was just at a local shop.... 28 inch fluted 5r sendero chambered in 300 win mag.... seemed like a decent stock... i was about to start a build on my model 70 to re chamber it to 300 win..... they wanted 1250 for the rifle out the door.... my question is what kind of groups does this rifle shoot out of the box???

1400 was my budget to redo my model 70...xlr bartlein timney etc.... but whats your thoughts on this 700????

You sure it was a Sendero? If it was fluted with the 5R barrel then it was part of a very limited run and may be worth what they are asking. The regular Sendero was not a 5R rifle. and is worth about $900-$950 around here. I had one in 300WM and it was a solid shooter with hand loads. I would opt for the Winchester rebuild though cause in the long run you most likely will have a better stick. Rem's shoot real good but nothing beats a quality barreled well smithed stick.

BTW I have a Win 300WM going, Benchmark barrel, Win Classic Action, Williams FP, and Boyds Laminate stock.
