I have a Remington 700.

I changed the trigger to a Timney.

Purchased a HS Precision Stock (used)

I haves shot the gun

Next I would like to add a larger bolt knob and bed the stock. Can I buy a oversized bolt knob and install it or is this best done by a gunsmith?

I haven't found any info about bedding the HS Precision stock. What do I need to do to the stock with regard to inletting? Roughing up the bedding blocks won't be a big deal.

Any help here is appreciated.

I had an sps tactical that I sent to Short Action Customs (vendor on here) and they centered the action, bedded the rifle to the stock, performed their trigger job...and the rifle was sub moa, often times in the neighborhood of 1/2 moa. I highly recommend SAC for their bolt knob installation and stock bedding service.

The HS Precision stock has an aluminum "V-Block" style chassis. It is not intended for bedding. In my opinion, bedding it will make it worse by defeating the whole purpose of a V-Block. The main thing to remember with the "V-Block" style chassis is that the rear tang pretty much hangs out unsupported by the "V" in the block and over-torquing the rear screw is the cause of most problems.

I pretty much have the same set up. I just put a Krg bolt knob on mine I really like for 32 bucks compared so some $100 ones and doesn't look bad at all. I also have a hs stock never heard you weren't suppose to bed them, but after I did tightened up my groups significantly, I just bedded mine with marine epoxy 7 bucks at ace. As far as I can see just as good as any other bedding compound. Still tweaking but always sub moa and when I do my part sub 1/2 moa,
