As I consider buying one of these two rifles as a base, is there a real reason to choose one over the other? I have been leaning towards the AAC-SD mainly because of the ability to mount a suppressor, but in reality by the time I have enough to purchase one and the paperwork goes thru the ATF I'll probably be looking at swapping out the barrel anyway... Is one more accurate than the other, or is it a toss up?

Thanks in advance...

By regular SPS are you referring to the SPS Tactical? This model comes with a 1-12 twist versus the AAC-SD which has a 1-10 twist and is superior at stabilizing 175gr and heavier bullets.

Yes, I'm asking about both tactical models... Just to clarify, you're saying the AAC-SD is superior to stabilizing the heavier rounds, correct?

Toss up. The threaded barrel will also allow you to mount a brake. The regular sps will be $100+ to have it threaded.

Ask me how I know.....

^This sums it up well.^

I have both and both shoot very well with bullets in the 168-190 weights. A 1:10 isn’t necessary for supersonic bullets meant for long range but it works. I have yet to try anything lighter than 168's in the 1:10 but in the 1:12 I have used 130 and 155 grain bullets and it shoots those just as good. The only bullet that comes to mind that did work well was the 110 v-max but that could easily be caused because of a different reason than twist rate... or not having a 1:17 barrel, LOL.

A post I made on the 1:12 tactical
