I am trying to do a trigger job on my model 700. I have done one before, but it was many many years ago. I am using the instructions from quarterbore. When I removed the over travel screw completely from the trigger to oil the threads it will only go in about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way before it stops turning. This happens on both of my triggers. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Remington 700 trigger

This should be moved to the gunsmithing thread.

Is this a new x-mark trigger?
Only the pull weight should be adjusted on the x mark. The overtravel and sear engagement screws have a very thick thread locker on them that is very difficult to remove.

Re: Remington 700 trigger

I don't have the gun with me, but I remember there being rivets. Is there pins also to remove? Does anyone have some trigger breakdown instructions I could follow in case I drop the thing.

This is your problem. Take the spring out, install screw, install spring and adjust to suit.

Re: Remington 700 trigger

OK sounds simple enough. How would I go about doing that? I'm just trying to get the most info before I get home and don't have the puter handy. Sorry for al the questions.
