Remington 700

Wanting some opinions on my Remington 700. I bought it w/ the plaster disaster stock and I plan on upgrading to a McMillan A4 next spring. It is a Remington 700 short action in .308 w/ the 26" heavy barrel. It also has a Barska Swat 6-24x44 IR Extreme Tactical Scope. This was a <span style="font-weight: bold">budget build</span>, but I am wanting opinions on it how it sits.

Like you said... dump the stock. That rifle/bbl contour in an A4 or A5 is easy to love...

You may want to consider selling the scope and stock for whatever you can get and upgrade your scope too.

you can get a B&C stock for a very reasonable price. I would focus on the glass. Spend as much as you can to get the most out of that stick.

I agree with DesertHK, save money for the best glass possible, then focus on the stock.

A friend of mine has a thumbhole bamboo wood stock that has a full length aluminum bedding block in it. I have seen his stock inside & out, looks nice. It is from

With that said i'm not a fan of wood but looks like a good product.

Take a look at fired primer indents. Is the indent dead in the middle of the primer? Those are the best.

Thank you for the suggestions. This was exactly what I was looking for. I threw that glass on just for rifle deer season and planned on upgrading next year as well as getting the McMillan stock. In its current setup it is dead ass accurate @ 300 yards (havent had a chance to stretch out farther than that yet.)

I purchased a rifle a few years back with the same stock on it, an H-S was a huge upgrade in quality and lightened up the rig quite a bit... Pretty much anything was an improvement in my opinion...
